Hi.

Let's go on an adventure!

Reminder not fall into the social media trap.

Reminder not fall into the social media trap.

I am confident I’m not the only one who has been spending most days on social with current situation. The comment section on meme pages have been particularly captivating and entertaining for me. Other than that I am greatly inspired by everyone’s posts and way of life during such a weird time.  But truth is, what we see is not always what it is. We can never read anyone’s thoughts but we can sometimes pickup in a personal conversation if something is going on. So you get to have a perspective - we are all people, life happens and we support one another.

This is absolutely not the case with social media. I think we had all picked up on our first experiences of MySpace, Facebook, and later on Instagram, that we get to have more attention when we share the happy things. And if you were one of people like me, who at early stages of being in social media did share something unhappy or personal - you felt like an idiot because no one was there to respond to your sad crying post. I truly believe it’s because most people don’t know how to react to it. This was never a lesson taught but something that came subliminally.

Then overtime, as we evolved into the social media taking over the way we casually communicate, more and more not-so-positive content became acceptable. But old habits still remained in some of us that are just not too secure to share EVERYTHING.

So next time you see posts with a smily face, newly bough house, someone is pregnant, amazing body shape, new job, traveling the world - be happy for them. On the contrary, just know that behind the camera it is all balanced with real life things like debt, grief of losing someone, heartbreak, or someone is in desperate search of self. In either case, life things will happen inevitably and it’s okay.
